SKILL LEVEL COMPLIANCE WITH NYC FOOTY

At NYC Footy, we are committed to maintaining the integrity of our league's skill levels. Our efforts rely on accurate, player-reported data, and we require that all participants be honest in self-assessing their abilities.

Each league is designated by a specific skill level (e.g., P1, P2, P3, P4, P5), and we encourage players to register for leagues that align closely with their current skill level. This ensures a fair and enjoyable experience for all participants, regardless of their ability.

To preserve the balance and competitiveness within each league, we review individual and team skill levels prior to the commencement of each season.

The following compliance rules are in place to enforce these standards:

Overall Team Compliance Rule:

Teams are assessed by taking average skill level of all rostered players (note, roster players are still held to the player compliance standard below).

Based on this assessment, teams should register for leagues that most accurately reflect the average skill level of all their players. Teams should not register for leagues that are more than one level away from their team average. For example: if your team is mostly comprised of Advanced players (P1) your team should not join Intermediate (P3) leagues and below.

Below is an approximate example of how the Team Compliance Rule plays out for teams:

Overall Player Compliance Rule:

Individual players may participate in a league within two skill levels above or below their registered skill level (so long as their team average complies with the Team Compliance Rule). No exceptions will be made to this rule.

This compliance requirement may be adjusted in cases of limited availability, where the overall skill composition of a team necessitates stricter adherence to the skill-level policy.

Below are examples illustrating how our compliance rule is applied:

Please note, league levels may be changed during or after a registration window if rosters and registrations inform the change. For instance, if a P2 division is seeing a majority of teams fall into the P3 category, the division will change to a P2/3 or a P3.

If your preferred skill level and location are unavailable, please contact us at info@nycfooty.com to request a league consideration for current (time permitting) or future seasons.

Self-Assessment and Rule Violations

Accurate self-assessment of skill level is critical. Misrepresenting your or your team’s skill level during registration is a violation of our code of conduct.

We reserve the right to remove or transfer teams preemptively (with notice) if their average skill level deemed inappropriate for the league.

Post season start, should it be determined that a player or team is at an inappropriate skill level for a league, NYC Footy reserves the right to remove the player or team without refund. If removal is deemed too disruptive to the ongoing league, the player or team will be disqualified from playoff participation, also without refund.

Please visit our league rules for more information.

If you believe a player or team is competing at an inappropriate skill level, please report this via the NYC Footy app (iOS only) or by completing an incident report.
